Implant Treatments Available Near Providence Plantation
One missing tooth calls for one implant: a titanium post set in the jaw and topped with a crown shaped and shaded to blend with the teeth around it. Because the post sits in the bone itself, it helps maintain the jaw where the root used to be.
If a conventional denture shifts or rubs, implant-supported dentures are worth a look. Several implants hold the denture firmly in place, and because they connect to the jawbone they help keep it stimulated. Eating and speaking tend to feel more secure than with a removable denture resting only on the gums.
Digital implant planning and cone beam imaging help us position each implant before the day of surgery.
All-on-4 rebuilds an entire arch on four implants, and in many cases the new teeth are attached the same day so you leave with a functional smile.
Unlike a removable denture, the teeth stay in place. The implants also put the jawbone back to work, which slows the loss that follows missing teeth.
Imaging, digital planning, and lab work all happen in-house.
Nerves about the dental chair should not be the reason a treatment keeps getting postponed. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and IV sedation, chosen according to your comfort level and the length of the visit.
If you choose oral or IV sedation, a friend or family member will need to drive you home. Call ahead and we will talk through which option fits.
Cosmetic Dentistry for Providence Plantation Patients
If coffee, tea, or time has dulled your smile, our professional tooth whitening lifts stains on the surface and deeper in the enamel. It is done in the office with professional-grade bleaching agents rather than the weaker strength of store-bought kits.
Crowded or crooked teeth can be corrected without wires and brackets using Invisalign® clear aligners. The aligners are custom-made for your teeth, and you can remove them to eat and to brush and floss. Dr. Porter is recognized as a top Invisalign provider in his area.
Chips, gaps, uneven edges, and discoloration that does not respond to whitening are all reasons to consider dental veneers. These thin porcelain shells are made to the shape of each tooth and bonded in place for a more even look.
Crowns protect teeth that are broken, worn, or decayed, and bridges fill a row of missing teeth by anchoring to healthy teeth on either side. Our CEREC same-day technology lets us create and place a crown in one visit, so there is no temporary to wear in between.
How a Dental Implant Works
An implant is a small titanium post that takes the place of a tooth root. After it is placed, the bone gradually bonds to it (a process called osseointegration), and a custom crown is attached on top to replace the visible tooth.
Because it stands on its own, an implant does not require grinding down neighboring teeth the way a bridge does, and it keeps working the jawbone, which tends to shrink once a root is gone.

Who Can Get Dental Implants?
Healthy adults with enough jawbone are often good candidates, but the only way to know is an exam. At your consultation we look at:
- Gum condition and how much bone is present
- Medical history, especially conditions that slow healing
- Whether an extraction or bone graft has to come first
- How many teeth are missing and which restoration suits them
From there we build a plan around your situation. If you are living with missing or failing teeth, a consultation is an easy way to see your options.
Providence Plantation Implant FAQ
An Implant Practice Along Providence Road
Residents of Providence Plantation follow Providence Road to reach our Springbank Lane office. What they find on arrival is care that stays in one place: imaging, surgery, and the final crown are handled by the same team rather than divided among separate specialist offices.
Dr. Porter is a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Digital implant planning and cone beam 3D imaging let us map your treatment before surgery, and an in-house lab supports the restorations. If you live in the Providence Plantation area and want to talk options, the consultation is complimentary.
What Happens During Implant Treatment
We handle every stage under one roof, so the team that plans your treatment is the same one that places the implant and restores it.
After imaging and planning, the implant post is placed in the jaw. Healing follows, during which the bone bonds to the post. Then an abutment is attached, and finally a custom crown matched to your neighboring teeth in color, shape, and size.

Options for Several Missing Teeth or a Whole Arch
A single implant is only one approach. Several missing teeth can be restored with implant-supported bridges or dentures, depending on where the gaps are.
When most or all of the teeth in an arch are gone, All-on-4 dental implants support the whole arch on four implants and give you a fixed result instead of a removable one. If the entire mouth needs rebuilding, full mouth reconstruction pairs implants with other restorative work. Whether bone grafting is needed depends on your scans.
