Implant Treatments You Can Choose From
Lost one tooth to decay, an injury, or a root canal that did not hold? A single implant replaces the root as well as the crown, so the teeth on either side stay untouched. A titanium post is set in the jaw, and once it has fused with the bone, a porcelain crown matched to the color and shape of your other teeth is attached. Because the post sits in the bone, it also helps keep that part of the jaw from thinning.
When most of the teeth in an arch are missing or failing, a denture that snaps onto a few implants behaves very differently from one that rests on the gums. It stays in place when you talk or laugh, it does not need adhesive, and chewing pressure reaches the bone again, which helps slow the shrinkage that follows tooth loss. Many people find it easier to eat the foods they had given up.
If an entire arch is missing or cannot be saved, All-on-4 uses four implants, some of them angled, to hold a full set of fixed teeth.

Replacing a Full Arch With All-on-4
Losing most or all of the teeth in an arch makes everyday things harder: chewing, speaking clearly, even smiling in photos. Over time the jawbone that once held the roots begins to shrink as well. All-on-4 addresses both by anchoring a fixed arch of teeth to four implants, which keeps the bone stimulated and gives you teeth that stay in at night.
Everything from the scans to the final teeth happens at our south Charlotte office, so you are not shuttled between a surgeon and a dentist in different towns. Whether a functional set of teeth can be attached the same day depends on your bone and general health, and Dr. Porter will tell you at your exam.

Sedation Options and Planning Your Visit
