Implant and Smile Care, Planned Around Your Schedule
Patients come to Charlotte Dental Arts from across Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and Gaston counties, and from just over the South Carolina line. If you are reading this from Rocky River, you will find us at 3135 Springbank Lane, Suite 150, in south Charlotte. The drive depends on where you start and when you leave, so allow extra time for your first appointment.
Dr. Edwin Porter, DDS, FAGD, DICOI, leads implant and cosmetic care here, and the imaging, planning and lab work all happen in one building. Your first stop is a complimentary consultation, where we listen and look before anyone talks about treatment.
Dental Implant Options at Our South Charlotte Office
One missing tooth does not have to mean a bridge that grinds down its neighbors. A single implant replaces the root with a titanium post, and a custom crown restores the part you see.
Because the post sits in the jaw, it helps hold bone in place where the tooth used to be.
When a full denture will not stay put, or several teeth are failing, implants give the denture something solid to attach to. A small number of implants keeps it steady when you speak or bite.
A denture that stops shifting can make mealtimes a lot less of a negotiation.
All-on-4 supports a complete arch of teeth on four implants, and it often gives you a functional smile on the day of surgery. It suits people who are missing most of an arch or whose remaining teeth cannot be saved.
We map implant positions with cone beam 3D imaging and digital planning, then finish the teeth in our in-house lab.
Long appointments are easier when you are relaxed. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation, and we will help you choose a level that fits the procedure and your comfort.
Oral and IV sedation require a ride home, so arrange one before your visit.
Cosmetic Dentistry Services in South Charlotte
Professional whitening uses stronger agents than drugstore strips, applied in our office under supervision. It addresses stains from coffee, tea and age, not only surface discoloration.
It is also a sensible first step if veneers or crowns are on your list, since those are shade-matched to the teeth around them.
Invisalign moves teeth with a series of clear, removable aligners made from digital impressions of your mouth. Dr. Porter is a top Invisalign provider in his area.
Because you take the aligners out to eat, you can brush and floss as you normally would.
Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of teeth to change their shape, length, color or spacing. People often choose them for chips, gaps, and teeth that do not respond to whitening.
We design each one to fit your bite and blend with the teeth beside it.
A crown caps a tooth that is cracked, heavily filled or weakened. A bridge fills a gap by spanning it, and an implant can serve as the support instead of the neighboring teeth.
Our CEREC system makes same-day crowns possible for many patients, using digital impressions rather than trays of putty.
How We Plan a Full Treatment Sequence
Many people need more than one service: an extraction, an implant, a crown, then whitening or veneers to even things out. We lay those steps out in a single plan so you can see the order and decide what fits.
Dr. Porter reviews your imaging at the consultation, which is complimentary. We are out-of-network friendly, and financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry and Proceed. If you do not have insurance, ask about our Premier Dental Savings Program.
Dr. Edwin Porter
Dr. Edwin Porter, DDS, FAGD, DICOI, is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is a recognized Top Dentist in Charlotte and a top Invisalign provider in his area.
Implant and cosmetic cases here are planned with cone beam imaging and digital impressions, so you see the plan before treatment starts.
A Closer Look at All-on-4 Treatment
Living with a mouth full of failing or missing teeth wears on you, and the longer it goes, the more the jawbone changes. All-on-4 was designed for exactly this situation: a full arch replaced with a fixed set of teeth held by four implants.
The implants are angled to make use of the bone you already have, which is why some people with bone loss can still be considered. Whether you qualify comes down to your imaging and your health history, which we review together.
From scans to the final teeth, the work stays in our office and in our lab. Many patients leave surgery with a functional set of teeth that day, with the final restoration completed afterward.
Common Questions Before You Visit
We are at 3135 Springbank Lane, Suite 150, in south Charlotte (28226). We serve patients from Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and Gaston counties and just across the South Carolina line, so travel time varies a great deal by starting point. Check your route before you leave and allow extra time for the first visit.
Dr. Porter reviews your history, examines your mouth and, when needed, takes cone beam 3D images. You leave knowing which options apply to you and in what order treatment would happen. There is no charge for the consultation.
Yes. We are out-of-network friendly and will help you understand your benefits. Financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry and Proceed, and patients without insurance can ask about our Premier Dental Savings Program.
We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation. If you choose oral or IV sedation, a responsible adult needs to drive you home, so it helps to arrange that when you book.
A single implant replaces one tooth. Implant-supported bridges and dentures cover several teeth or a full arch with fewer implants than teeth, and All-on-4 replaces an entire arch on four implants. Which one makes sense depends on your bone, your bite and your goals.
People who are missing most of an arch, or whose remaining teeth are failing, are often considered. Some bone loss does not automatically rule it out. A scan and a health review at the consultation will tell us whether it is appropriate for you.
Both are thin coverings bonded to the front of the teeth. Lumineers are a brand of ultra-thin veneer that often needs little or no enamel removal, while traditional veneers usually involve reshaping a small amount of enamel. We can explain which suits your teeth.
In-office whitening uses stronger bleaching agents and is applied under supervision, so it can reach stains that over-the-counter products struggle with. If you are also considering Invisalign, ask us about timing and about who is a good candidate for clear aligners.
Sedation Options for Nervous Patients
Fear of the dentist keeps some people from treatment they need, and a longer implant or cosmetic appointment can feel daunting even if you are usually fine in the chair. Sedation is there to take the edge off.
We offer three levels: nitrous oxide, which wears off quickly; oral sedation taken before your visit; and IV sedation for deeper relaxation. Oral and IV options mean you will need a ride home, and we will go over the plan with you beforehand.
