Replacing Missing Teeth and Refreshing Your Smile, Start to Finish
Looking into dental implants or a smile makeover and wondering what a first visit actually involves? Charlotte Dental Arts is a general and implant practice in south Charlotte, and the first step is a complimentary consultation where we look at your mouth, take 3D cone beam images and explain your options in plain terms.
Patients come to us from across Mecklenburg, Union, Cabarrus and Gaston counties and just over the South Carolina line, including those from Woodford Green. Dr. Edwin Porter plans and delivers the work with our in-house lab, we are friendly to out-of-network patients, and financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry and Proceed.
Dental Implant Options for Woodford Green Patients
One missing tooth does not have to mean a bridge that leans on its neighbors. A single implant replaces the root with a titanium post, and a custom crown on top is shaped and shaded to blend with the teeth around it.
Because the post sits in the jaw, it helps preserve the bone that would otherwise shrink where the tooth used to be.
When most or all of the teeth in an arch are missing or failing, a denture that snaps onto implants stays put far better than one resting on the gums alone.
That stability can make it easier to chew a wider range of foods and to speak without worrying about slipping, and the implants give the jawbone steady stimulation.
A full arch can be rebuilt on just four implants, placed at angles that make the best use of the bone you have, with a fixed set of teeth attached on top. A functional smile the same day is often possible.
We map placement on digital scans first, then carry out the work with our in-house lab close at hand.
Nervous about the chair, or facing a longer procedure? We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation, chosen to suit your comfort level and the length of the visit.
If you have oral or IV sedation, you will need someone to drive you home, so arrange that before your appointment.
Cosmetic Dentistry for Woodford Green Smiles
Coffee, tea and time dull enamel. Professional whitening uses stronger agents than store-bought products, and doing it in the office lets us protect your gums and watch for sensitivity as we go.
It is a quick way to lift the shade of your natural teeth, though it will not change existing crowns or veneers.
Invisalign® moves teeth with a series of clear, removable trays made from digital impressions of your mouth. Dr. Porter is recognized as a top Invisalign provider in his area.
Because you take the trays out to eat, brush and floss, your daily routine stays much the same.
Veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the front of teeth to change their shape, shade or spacing. They are often used for chips, small gaps, uneven edges or stubborn staining.
We talk through the look you want before anything is made, so the finished shells suit your face and smile.
A crown covers a damaged or weakened tooth, while a bridge spans a gap using the teeth beside it for support. Both are meant to bring back chewing strength and a natural look.
With CEREC technology, a crown can often be designed and milled for you in a single appointment.
Matching the Treatment to Your Situation
Not everyone needs the same thing. Some people are missing one tooth, some are unhappy with how their teeth look, and some have both concerns. We combine implants, implant dentures, veneers, crowns and bridges as the case calls for.
Digital impressions and implant planning let us design each plan before treatment starts, and everything is coordinated under one roof.

All-on-4: A Full Arch of Teeth on Four Implants
Losing most or all of the teeth in an arch affects eating, speech and even the shape of the face over time, because the jawbone shrinks when it has no roots to support it. All-on-4 is designed to address that by anchoring a full set of teeth to four implants.
Cone beam 3D imaging and digital planning show us how much bone is available before treatment begins, and a consultation will tell you whether you are a candidate.
Common Questions Before You Book
We are at 3135 Springbank Lane, Suite 150, in south Charlotte, NC 28226. Step-by-step directions are on this page. Allow some extra travel time, since traffic varies by route and hour.
Dr. Porter reviews your health history, examines your teeth and gums, and uses 3D cone beam imaging to look at the bone. You then hear which options fit your situation, what each involves and what it is likely to cost, so you can decide without pressure.
We are out-of-network friendly and will help you understand what your plan may cover. Financing is available through CareCredit, Cherry and Proceed, and our Premier Dental Savings Program is an option for patients without dental insurance.
Neighboring teeth can drift into the space, the opposing tooth can shift, and the bone underneath slowly shrinks without a root to stimulate it. Replacing the tooth sooner usually keeps more options open.
It comes down to how many teeth are missing and the condition of the bone. A single implant replaces one tooth, implant-supported dentures and bridges cover several, and All-on-4 rebuilds a whole arch. We sort this out at your consultation.
Sometimes, yes. The angled placement is designed to use the bone that is available, and 3D imaging shows us what that looks like in your case. Whether you are a candidate is decided after an exam.
Both are thin porcelain facings bonded to the front of teeth. Lumineers are an ultra-thin version that may need little or no enamel removal, while traditional veneers generally involve reshaping some enamel. Dr. Porter can tell you which suits your teeth.
No. With oral or IV sedation you need a responsible adult to take you home and stay with you afterward. Nitrous oxide wears off quickly, so it is handled differently, and we will explain the plan before your visit.
Sedation Options for Anxious Patients
Dental anxiety keeps some people from getting care, and waiting can turn a small problem into a bigger one. We offer three levels of sedation so the approach fits both you and the procedure: nitrous oxide, oral sedation and IV sedation.
Nitrous oxide wears off quickly. With oral or IV sedation you will need a ride home. Ask at your consultation which option makes sense for you.
